Since its inception in 1830, the French silversmith house Christofle has continued to secure a place in the hearts of design enthusiasts with a combination of fine craftsmanship and an eye for au courant aesthetics. In recent years, the brand has created designs with Studio Nendo, Jean-Marie Massaud and Andrée Putman, and now they continue to evolve into modern times with the debut of three new stunning boutiques—including the new 1,000-square-foot space on Level Three at Bal Harbour Shops.
Outfitted with French oak and details like shop windows with curved pediment, intricate moldings, and a color palette of khaki and ivory—chosen to bring out the brilliance of the silver—the new space feels much like an authentic Haussmann apartment that has just been given a modern upgrade, at once paying tribute to the brand’s iconic past while ushering in the finest in contemporary offerings. One such piece is MOOD Asia, a silver service for six that includes chopsticks, chopstick rests, spoons and dessert forks, all housed in an egg-shaped vessel. Just released this month, the intricate set not only puts an artist’s eye onto everyday utensils, but when not in use, the piece is meant to be placed on display instead of hidden in a cabinet—a thing of beauty to be enjoyed on its own.
MOOD Asia joins the rest of the MOOD collection, which also includes the original MOOD (traditional cutlery for six), MOOD Party (for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails) and MOOD Coffee (an abbreviated experience with just six silver espresso spoons). Elsewhere in the shop, keep an eye out for pet accessories (leashes, collars, tags and of course pet bowls), jewelry (cufflinks, rings, hair clips and more), stunning barware and even a bespoke Lune d’Argent candle, perfect for setting the MOOD!
