The new 1,000 sq. ft. RIMOWA store at Bal Harbour Shops features the latest luggage carrousel-style store concept and showcases the RIMOWA’s updated luggage collections—the RIMOWA Original, RIMOWA Classic, RIMOWA Essential and RIMOWA Hybrid. The new RIMOWA store will also be the exclusive RIMOWA retail location in Miami for the Aesop + RIMOWA collaboration.
Founded in 1898 in Cologne, Germany, Paul Morszeck first started his business of designing and selling luggage made of a lightweight hard-wearing wood. Just over 30 years into the business, Morszceck’s factory burst into flames, leaving aluminum as the only material surviving the blaze. In 1937, the very first aluminum trunk was pioneered by Paul Morszeck’s son, Richard Morszeck, inspired by the same material as the Junker F13—the world’s first all-metal passenger plane. The iconic grooves that you see on each of the products are also taken from the distinctive design of the Junkers F13.
A-listers such as Olivia Palermo, Cara Delevingne, Cameron Diaz, Diane Kruger and more have been photographed breezing through airports sporting the brand. As travelers search more convenience in their lives, RIMOWA answered with the creation of the first-ever polycarbonate suitcase, made of the same material used in body armor and bulletproof glass—which is practically unbreakable and almost weightless.
The brand joined the LVMH Group in 2017. In 2018,120 years since the small family-run business was established in Cologne, RIMOWA unveiled a new visual identity showcasing a contemporary look that reflects the next chapter in travel as well as the brand’s proud heritage. Recently, RIMOWA partnered with Virgil Abloh’s Italian streetwear and luxury fashion label Off-WhiteTM to launch a limited-edition Off-WhiteTM x RIMOWA collection of transparent suitcases that force customers to artfully sort the insides of their suitcases for everyone to see. Whether you’re searching for a traditional look or a more avant-garde design, discover the newly opened RIMOWA Bal Harbour on Level 2 of the Shops.
