Versace Charms with Medusa ‘95

By Lauren Caruso

Versace’s Medusa motif has been an enduring symbol for the house—arguably its most powerful and instantly recognizable symbol. In the hands of the Versace family, Medusa became a symbol of elevated beauty, rebellion, and female empowerment. This season, Versace revisits a metal detail that first debuted in the Spring-Summer 1995 collection and brings it back into focus as Medusa ’95, a new bag line that debuted at the Milan runway show last fall.

Here, we take a look at some highlights from the Spring-Summer 2024 collection, whose irreverence and optimism are now the hallmarks of the modern Versace woman.

  1. Versace pink croc effect small top-handle purse with silver hardware

This top-handle tote is constructed from croc-effect leather and features the iconic Medusa ’95 logo embedded in the decorative belt-like hardware.
  2. Versace pink and white stripe tweed fitted blazer

    Contrasto tweed Hourglass jacket

The best way to balance a decidedly saccharine skirt suit? Try this hourglass silhouette which boasts boning construction, and that fierce Medusa emblem on each button.
  3. Versace pink and white stripe tweed pencil skirt

Pair this crêpe checkerboard tweed skirt with a mini tee and slingbacks for an updated take on suiting.
  4. Versace pink textural Barocco print tote bag

    Barocco Athena small tote bag

Forget the bright Barbie pink of 2023: This season brings a smart, subdued take on the color story, as seen here on the Athena bag in the house’s textural Barocco pattern. We’re loving the ‘90s-era vintage Versace logo embroidery.
  5. Versace white leather knee high boot with square peep toe

    Gianni Ribbon open-toe knee-high boots

Not for the meek, these ultra-femme, open-heeled knee-high boots feature the label’s iconic Medusa hardware atop the Gianni ribbon. The open, square toe lends a nostalgic feel that’s perfect for spring.
  6. Versace white leather ballerina flat with strap and silver hardware

    Gianni Ribbon open-toe ballerina flats

The iconic Medusa accent punctuates these square-front ballerina flats with an unexpectedly charming subtle peep-toe. Even more, they offer a look back to the Spring-Summer 1995 collection, which marks the first time that Versace opened a fashion show with flat shoes.
  7. Versace black and white checkered shirt

    Medusa Contrasto silk shirt

Crafted from pure silk, this long-sleeved, checkerboard-print shirt boasts two of Versace’s most storied motifs—the Medusa and Barocco pattern stamps—for a look that won’t go unnoticed.
  8. Versace white Greca leather sneakers

Ok, this one’s for the boys. Ground any look with these Greca engraved-sole white sneakers. Admit it, a little Greca goes a long way!
