Dive Into Summer

Orlebar Brown

ICYMI: Memorial Day is fast-approaching, which means that summer is, too. Under the auspices of newly-lifted travel restrictions, the world is about to be our oyster again — an occasion that our closets need to be readied for. Whether you’re headed to Malta, Greece, Portugal or Paris — or, if your summer plans include a few aperitifs on your porch or a trek to the Hamptons, BHS has you covered.

For women in search of the perfect no-fuss daytime outfit, a blend of Bottega and Brunello pieces will up your style cachet. For guys looking for a slick evening look, look no further than Saint Laurent’s summer pieces. And, as an added bonus, we’ve thrown in a few must-have travel kits from BHS’s beauty brands.

First things first: the pieces to help you get where you’re going. Investing in a proper suitcase is a must . Rimowa is the need-to-know brand that jetsetters love, and its aluminum suitcases come in lots of surprising colorways. As far as carry-ons, go with Gucci’s double-G stamped wares, or Valentino’s Rockstud-covered tote bag. No matter which you choose, be sure to slip Le Labo’s travel kits into your carryall of choice. Wheels up!

The vibe for daytime is comfortable, luxe fabrics in enlivening hues and prints. For menswear, Gucci’s printed silk bowling set ticks both boxes; for women, Bottega’s cotton mesh shirt is sure to do the trick. Style with lightweight wire-rimmed Linda Farrow sunglasses and raffia-imbued footwear for a mellow, yet all-around fashionable look.

From basket bags (Fendi) to pool slides (Versace), BHS has fashion’s splashiest accoutrements for all your beach trips and poolside hangs. For a tableau worthy of a Slim Aarons photo, style these accessories with Orlebar Brown’s floral swim trunks — or for ladies, an ethereal Marie France Van Damme kaftan. Don’t forget your Prada sunnies!

For evening, cast minimalism aside in favor of color-soaked garments in boisterous prints — like Akris’ brush-stroked silk crepe dress. Saint Laurent’s button down features the same paint-splattered DNA, polished off with a white jacquard suit. For footwear, there’s only one real answer for ladies: Rene Caovilla’s famous Cleo sandal. Men: opt for Tod’s smart-meets-stylish ankle boots.

Gucci enters its next era. As the Italian house first established in 1921 has had its shuffle of talent in recent years, they’ve just appointed Demna as creative director. The 43-year-old spent the last ten years at Balenciaga and is also responsible for co-founding cult-favorite label Vetements in 2014. In a press release from Gucci and its parent company Kering, the brand states that Demna “has redefined modern luxury, earning global recognition and cementing his authority on the industry.”
