Summer is here, which means that it’s high time to fill your closet with a shock of new dresses for the months ahead. This season’s runway collections were filled with surprising silhouettes in enthralling colors and prints, so it was no easy task to pick our top-ten. From romantic florals at Oscar de la Renta, to baroque prints at Etro and optimistic pastels at Chloé, we’ve put together our #BHSEdit just for you.
For your inner party animal, Zimmermann’s Petal gown features all the flou needed for your next night-out. The dress looks best when paired with short cowboy booties (another summer must-have) and a chunky gold chain necklace.
Chloé’s plissé dress comes in the most endearing gray-blue shade, which will look just as effortless on overcast days as it will against crystal blue skies. Style with tan leather accessories (Chloé’s Kiss purse is much encouraged) and low, strappy sandals.
This summer, ornate prints are expected to reign supreme — and Etro’s printed, Empire-style silk dress is no exception. Its pattern, inspired by Wunderkammer (16th Century cabinets of curiosities), is a feast for the eyes. Wear with white heeled sandals, or white sneakers for a casual twist.
Nothing screams summer like a tropical palm print. Marie France Van Damme gives the motif a gold metallic twist, making for a look that’s utterly sophisticated. Style the racer back dress with a silk kimono and a rattan handbag to double-down on its relaxed feel.
Missoni is essential to every fashion girl’s summer wardrobe — whether imbued through a knit hat, beach towel, dress, or all three! In this case, its sleeveless dress and matching scarf are a perfect match for one another. Style with a pair of lace-up sandals and angular sunnies — and consider going with head-to-toe Missoni look, as pictured above.
If florals are your go-to spring-into-summer motif, Oscar de la Renta’s hand-painted flowers will add an extra-romantic touch to your collection. For a fête champêtre or an afternoon of shopping, layer with the brand’s matching trench coat and tie in a sleek top-handle bag.
Some like to mix it up with flavorful colors and prints all summer long; others adhere to an all-white uniform from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you count yourself in the second camp, Stella McCartney’s ethereal Daphne mini dress is sure to captivate you. Wear with tan leather knee-high boots for a powerful, leggy look.
Tory Burch created the *perfect* summer dress for those who are loyal to a head-to-toe black aesthetic year-round. With a tunic cut and pleated tie-wrap skirt, this floating frock can (and should!) be worn with embroidered slides and a woven leather tote.
Fans of Valentino know that its dresses are all about drama — including its floral printed cape dress, which has all the gravitas your summer wardrobe is missing. Style with the label’s Roman Stud ballet flats in lavender for prim, yet punchy look.
This sleeveless shirt dress packs a punch of ‘50s flare, which Akris modernized with the grass colorway that’s trending in 2021. For the fashion fan with a creative side, this brush stroke-printed number will be kismet. Style with a structural handbag and a floppy sun hat.
