From the depths of the ocean to land’s most prestigious wildlife, the GyroGraff Endangered Species collection is a series of five unique watches, four premiering at Baselworld depicting five endangered species: a panda, a gorilla, an elephant, a tiger, and a rhino. The GyroGraff’s trio of complications is a watchmaking first, carrying a double-axis tourbillon, a spherical moon phase and a power reserve indicator. All feature dials are set with precious gemstones and gold, hand-finished, using a technique pioneered by Graff.
Travelling back in time to 1904, when Louis Cartier made a special watch for his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont, a Brazilian aviator who needed a timekeeper he could check without taking his hands off the controls of his aircraft. Over the ensuing decades, Cartier made many variations on the theme. The defining characteristics of the watch have always been the square dial with Roman numerals, the square case, and the screws in the bezel. The medium model Santos watch is uniquely made with an 18K yellow gold case, 7-sided crown set with a faceted sapphire, sunray-effect dial, blued-steel sword-shaped hands and sapphire crystal. The Rolex GMT-Master II ‘Pepsi Bezel’ timepiece is made with a distinctive red and blue bezel, which has been the signature element of the GMT-Master ever since the release of the very first model in 1955.

The baseplate and the bridges are crafted of grade 5 titanium, a biocompatible, highly corrosion-resistant and remarkably rigid alloy, which explains its frequent use in the aerospace, aeronautics and automobile industries.
