The Miami Open is around the corner, and over the past few years, the tournament has grown into a major South Florida happening. (Some of us may recall when it was the much quainter Sony Ericsson Open out on Key Biscayne, for example.)
A day or night of spectating up at the Hard Rock complex is essential–you might catch superstars Carlos Alcaraz or Aryna Sabalenka if your timing is right. And even if you don’t head into the stadium, there’s plenty to do in and around the grounds. Multiple Miami restaurants are popping up during the tournament. Dobel, the tequila brand, has a freestanding shaded bar with TV’s livestreaming the action, and there’s plenty of live music and various theme days.
And while it’s best not to treat a sporting outing as a full-stop party, it’s still an occasion, and an occasion warrants dressing up–or dressing the part. Below, we’ve compiled some of our favorite womenswear and menswear pieces to wear to the Miami Open this year, all available at Bal Harbour Shops. Think of this edit as “method dressing light:” these pieces aren’t overly or obviously tennis themed. More so, they channel the spirit of the game: they’re fun, light, maybe a little preppy, sun-friendly, and upbeat.
Let’s go!
-
Loro Piana
Baseball hats are key to tennis viewership–it can get super sunny and warm up at Hard Rock, and you never know if your section will be in the sun or not–and nothing beats this Loro Piana classic. -
Bottega Veneta
Understated and timeless, this cotton piquet polo shirt from Bottega Veneta has a slightly looser fit around the body and the hem. Easy, breezy. -
James Perse
As mentioned above, it can get warm at the Miami Open. Gents, if you’re looking for something a little dressier than shorts, these linen pants from James Perse are an attractive solution. -
Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello
We know we suggested a driving shoe as an alternative to sneakers, but then again, Saint Laurent’s no-fuss tennis shoes are the footwear equivalent of an ace–they keep winning.
