As the International Social Editor for Vanity Fair, Elizabeth Saltzman knows a good party. She not only sends out some of the most exclusive invitations in the world, she often styles the stars that attend them. A born and raised New Yorker, Saltzman began her fashion career at Giorgio Armani in New York and Milan before becoming a fashion editor at Vogue for 10 years and then Vanity Fair. “You have to be ready for anything at any time in New York which means keeping your lines simple, clean and chic. Never too much… you need to be able to move.”
Saltzman currently splits her time between the East Coast and London, where she lives with her husband and two sons. Here, she shares with us the secrets behind her impeccable style, a look she describes as Jackie O meets Audrey Hepburn with a hippie twist.
At the helm of Tiffany & Co.'s accessories collection, designers Richard Lambertson and John Truex have been creating luxe collections since 2010. The classic shapes and playful colors make the perfect day bag or beach tote. “I recently purchased a Tiffany reversible tote. I take it with me everywhere.”
Some habits are so embedded within us, we can't even imagine a time when they didn't exist. Whether it's a go-to scent or the same shade of lipstick you've worn since high school, these little things become part of our personal signature. “I never leave home without my Fracas Eau de Toilette and Revlon Nude lipstick.”
Nothing is more crucial to a wardrobe than a look that can take you from day to night. After all, who has time to go home and change? And there are a few designers we can always count on for easy, effortless appeal. “Michael Kors’ timeless clothing can take you anywhere at any time of the day.”
Sometimes we just want to glam it up for an evening. Jeans can only make you feel so good, after all. A little black dress is a fail-safe look for any occasion. “This fitted velvet dress from Stella McCartney’s Fall collection is such an elegant piece.”
When the art calendar begins to fill up, there are a few key events that top everyone's list. In December it's Art Basel Miami Beach; in June it's Art Basel and in October it's off to London for Frieze. “I’m really looking forward to The Frieze Art Fair; it’s a cultural mix of art, people and generations.”
When it's time to pack for a beach holiday there are a few key pieces to keep in mind. “I am hoping to get away to Maui or Rio. I would pack my Eres bathing suits and Pucci dresses.” These looks are timeless and always make you feel great when you slip one on.
Every career woman needs her time to escape, disconnect and recharge. “My secret tip is to go to the Ashram in Santa Monica or Majorca at least once a year.” Yoga, meditation and immersion in nature is just the thing to recalibrate.
