Stella McCartney is just too cool. Not only does she have the handsome hubby, gorgeous children, rock star dad AND one of the hottest fashion labels in existence, but she also knows how to have FUN! When planning her latest fashion collection, perhaps she thought: Why sit through another Resort presentation (in SM parlance, it’s Spring 2013) when you can instead attend a fabulous garden party populated by models wearing the collection?

We swoon for her and her creative team who thought up this fantastic party that took place last week in New York’s Bowery neighborhood. One would never have guessed by walking around this rather unsuspecting swatch of streets (we admit, it has become quite trendy) that an expansive garden lay behind one of its blocks. Only the line of towncars in front and clipboard-clutching girls guarding an entryway hinted at the destination.

Once through the alleyway, a lush garden shocked and delighted the throngs of guests—including Anne Hathaway, Amy Poehler, Jim Carrey, Lauren Hutton, Greta Gerwig, Emily Mortimer, Solange Knowles, Marilyn Minter, Helen Marden, Anna Wintour, Andre Leon Talley, Glenda Bailey, Roberta Myers, Ingrid Sischy, Olivia Harrison, Sandra Brant, Cindi Leive and Graydon and Anna Carter. A brass band kept everyone moving, while carnival games kept kids and adults alike entertained. And many a model took a turn tossing hoops, popping balloons and swinging a hammer to test their strength.

Fresh summer cocktails were passed around in Mason jars and savory snacks and sugary sweets were enjoyed by all. And you could say the same for the collection, a combination of savory yellow hues and sweet blues, pinks and a splash of floral and lace.
