Ballet flats may have been inspired by the flexible footwear worn by dancers, but Tod’s took that notion a step further with its latest shoe. In partnership with the famed Milanese theater, La Scala, Tod’s Group president Diego Della Valle, commissioned the theater to choreograph a conceptual ballet featuring 13 dancers depicting five of the steps involved in the construction of a Tod’s driving moccasin—the leather sourcing, cutting, hammering, punching, and stitching—and premiered a film of the ballet, “An Italian Dream” during Milan fashion week. The ballet flats, which feature a traditional silk ribbon that laces up the leg, are in stores now.
