Nothing says decadence quite like luxurious lingerie.  Perhaps the most discreet and sensual of all self-indulgences, fine lingerie is the ultimate in understated luxury as it’s not so much about how others see it, but how you feel wrapped in the precious silks and lace.

The Fall/Winter collection, in stores now, presents hypnotically dazzling pieces to tempt us. This November, Rizzoli takes the fascination with lingerie one step further and brings the guilty pleasure of women everywhere to coffee tables nationwide with their latest publication “La Perla: Lingerie & Desire.”

Highlighting the relationship between fine lingerie and all things desirable, the book explores over 60 years of designs by La Perla since its inception in 1954. From founder Ada Masotti’s humble beginnings in Bologna to the present day global fashion power house La Perla has become, the history in pictures showcases the expert bustiers of the 60s to the iconic pieces of today with chapters that are aptly divided with names such as Body, Black, White, Preciousness, Inspiration and Eros.

A journey of beauty, femininity and sensuality, it is the literary representation of the famed Italian brand which focuses on a combination of hand crafted pieces, artisan work and lace to celebrate a woman in all of her splendor. The world of women is passionately explored page by page with photos by today’s best and brightest fashion photographers such as Mario Testino, Nadir, Dominique Issermann and Alastair Taylor Young to name a few.
